2010 Movie Update

As a follow-up to this post, I mentioned Batman: Under the Red Hood and Superman/Batman: Apocalypse as the two 2010 DC animated direct-to-DVD films that I enjoyed.  Apparently I forgot that Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths also came out in 2010.  I also enjoyed it very much, with Under the Red Hood remaining my favorite of the three.  It added another Whedonverse, specifically Firefly, actor to the list of those with roles in the DC animated films, namely Gina Torres as Super Woman.

As for the “2010 movies I haven’t seen yet that I hope are good, because I already bought at least one of them, and I want to like the others,” I have now seen them all, and own three of them, so that’s something.

Shrek Forever After

This was the one that I had already bought, in the complete series pack for my kids for Christmas.  It was definitely better than Shrek the Third, though not quite as good as the first two entries in the series. I enjoyed it enough not to get tired of it after the next several times my children watched it.

The A-Team

This was a fun movie to watch, and a lot better than I really expected it to be.  I am sure that I watched the the TV series as a kid, but I have no real memories of it, so I had nothing to compare the movie to, for good or bad.  I did not end up buying this one.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1

This was definitely my favorite of all the Harry Potter movies.  It was also the only one that we felt was a bit much to let our children watch at their ages, so we are reading the book, having read Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone a couple of months ago, and apparently skipping the intervening entries for now.  I am actually looking forward to seeing the final film in the theater, something that I do less and less for movies these days.  The only other Potter I have seen theatrically is also Sorcerer’s Stone, nearly ten years ago, and the others I did not even see until the last six months or so.  I bought this the day of release, because Leslie insisted.

Megamind

This was the third that I bought, after getting it from NetFlix and the kids liking it a lot and me liking it enough, and it still being release week and therefore on sale and even having a coupon available.  Woohoo!

The Other Guys

This was a rental, and a good one-time viewer.  I laughed a lot, especially at crazy Mark Wahlberg.
